Testing and Innovation

Our Mission

For more than a decade and a half, we’ve been championing the importance of biosecurity as routine common-sense; basic hygiene, washing your hands as often as possible, all the things we do, or should do, as a matter of course.

Every day we come in contact with microorganisms and pathogens. Some are simply unpleasant; and as recent events have proved, many are deadly.

Biosecurity needed a champion.

Our mission, we feel, is to be that champion.

What testing means to Steri-7

Some years ago, we decided that continual testing of our products was the only way we could safely stand by the claims we make.

So, when we have a really good result in the laboratory, we are quietly pleased, then we go back to the lab!

We test again and again at increasingly improbable levels under progressively difficult conditions until the product fails.

We then improve the formula and then test again....And again.

Not till it succeeds, but until it fails. Again.

Only by pushing the science and the formulas to the very extreme can we satisfy ourselves that our products are truly fit for purpose

PAS 2424

PAS 2424 is considered one of the most difficult of laboratory tests to pass as it closely duplicates how cleaning and disinfecting products are used in the real world.

The tests are run in accordance with BS EN 13697:2001 making PAS 2424 probably our toughest challenge ever.

We tested against Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 15442, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Enterococcus hirae ATCC 10541, Escherichia coli ATCC 10536 and Candida albicans ATCC 10231.

The laboratory specified at least a 3-log reduction in viable bacterial counts and at least a 3-log reduction in viable yeast counts.

STERI-7 XTRA achieved a 6-log kill rate. Twice what the science would expect. PAS 2424 has been praised as a game-changing test.  We passed it with room to spare.

How do we continuously monitor product ingredients & testing compliance?

At Steri-7 we continuously follow and closely monitor the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) guidelines (EN 14885) for what tests to take and the surrogate microorganisms to test against to be able to make our efficacy claims.

We recently had STERI-7 XTRA laboratory tested following EN 16777 protocols against non-envelope viruses Adenovirus and Murine Norovirus. STERI-7 XTRA demonstrated an extraordinarily effective kill rate against both those enveloped viruses. It also means we can claim real efficacy against other non-enveloped viruses including Rotavirus.

Constant vigilance on our part and willingness to go above an beyond with our testing regime is just one of the reasons STERI-7 XTRA is a world-leader in high-level disinfectant multi-purpose cleaners.

We  put STERI-7 XTRA though an extensive schedule of laboratory testing because we want to achieve the greatest products yet!
